Our History
The Humber Premier League was formed in 2000. The County F.A. identified the need for a bridge between local and National League football some years ago in the hope that an existing league would take on the mantle. In 1999, as part of their Development Plan, the County F.A. emphasized the need to replace the current 'Supply' league with a new dedicated league which would place ground and playing criteria on its Member Clubs. This would hopefully raise standards, both playing and facilities.
In January 2000, the County F.A. decided to move this forward and invited selected clubs to a meeting to form a new league. With sufficient interest shown, a further meeting was arranged and a constitution drawn up and the name Humber Premier League adopted. The League started its first season in August 2000, which despite the appalling winter, was successfully concluded.
The Football Association quickly recognized the League as a Supply League and we were informed that, subject to ground requirements, Member Clubs would be eligible to enter the F.A.Vase.
In it's 6th season, the Humber Premier League continued to go from strength to strength, seeing the formation of a new divison, HPL Division One. This division now allows the Humber Premier League to operate promotions and relegations with the aim to further strengthen the playing standard of the league.
Now in it's 8th season, clubs, officials and fans alike are all looking forward to the League's most successful season.
